SUMMARY OF ISSUES Tysons Tunnel, Inc. strongly supports the extension of Metrorail from East Falls Church, through Tysons Corner, to Dulles Airport and beyond. The Commonwealth engaged Dulles Transit Partners (Bechtel and Washington Group International) for Preliminary Engineering work which includes an Elevated Rail through most of Tysons. The Commonwealth is now negotiating with Dulles Transit Partners for Final Design and Construction work of the Elevated Rail. However, it is in the best interests of our community to achieve the following: Public, competitive bidding of the Final Design and Construction work. Simultaneous consideration of a 3.5 mile tunnel under Tysons Corner. Side-by-side competitive bidding of the Tysons Tunnel and the Elevated Rail.
